The foreign employers must insure employees in Switzerland on a mandatory basis. They pay contributions to all compulsory Swiss social insurances: this means that the contribution into unemployment insurance will be paid as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the person becomes unemployed and the contribution has been paid for at least 2 years, he\/she can apply for unemployment benefit in Switzerland even though his\/her employer was abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, a Swiss canton refused to recognise the unemployment of a person previously registered under ANobAG and we had to explain the legal situation to this cantonal authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is highly recommended that foreigners apply for unemployment benefit because their residence permit will then be extended if necessary. On the other hand, applying for unemployment benefit can extend the waiting period for a C permit application. However, in some cases a permit is still better than an order to leave Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"mailto:info@internationalhrs.com\">IHRS<\/a> advises you in every issue concerning international employments.
