Visa for 120-day Swiss permit for assignment
The 120-day permit for assignees, which is valid for one year, is verry popular. Third country nationals living outside EU/EFTA need often in addition, when the permit was approved, a visa in their passport.
Which visa is the right one?
The D Visa is a long stay visa only for long-term stays in Switzerland, over 90 days in a row. The D Visa is usually not issued for a 120-day permit.
The C Visa is a Schengen visa, for 90 days during 180 days. Assignees with a 120-day permit for a year get a C Visa, see also enclosure, page 6 yellow.
Aufenthalt mit Erwerbstätigkeit aus Drittstaaten
With a C Visa they can work, which is confirmed also in the authorization from the cantonal migration office.
