Postings to Switzerland are expected to be less costly from beginning of the year 2020

Beginning of 2019 the Swiss immigration was revised. Various regulations, based on this law, are still under revision.

An important change in these regulations concerns postings / assignments to Switzerland. The necessary takeover of travel, accommodation and meals should in future only be legally necessary for the first year of a posting / assignment to Switzerland.

The new text of the regulation on admission, stay and employment has been proposed as follows:
Article 22a Duration of compensation for long-term postings
1 The employer’s obligation to pay compensation is waived for expenses incurred in the case of long-term postings in the context of an operational transfer or in the context of a cross-border service, after the posted workers have been in Switzerland for more than 12 months.

This amendment is in the interrogation phase until August 22nd, 2019, which means that it is being debated in the Swiss Parliament until that date and before a definitive decision is taken. The introduction of this amendment is planned for January 1st, 2020.
